I was able to participate in a rigorous, caffeine overloaded and an extreme skill possesive weekend. This was called JUNCTION and it was held in Helsinki in Wanha Satama. Hackathon's are events where engineer, design and business minded people get together and build something awesome in a matter of just few days.
I formed a team with a group of developers and we competed in the Fintech space (AI, VR, Game Jam etc. were other options). I had an idea that had been brewing in my mind for a couple of years. I pitched it to my teammates and it got a positive response. Minutes of brainstorming, an energy drink and then to vigorous coding and development. Thats how Hackathon's work. It's no BS, it's pure doing.
This Junction event had over a 1000 attendees and all of them were passionately developing products towards something great, towards the future. How effective is that? We should do this more often.
I met extremely interesting people from all around the world. These guys were doing something pretty amazing stuff. VGLASS team was helping blind people see. How powerful is that? Cryptozone created a cryptocurrency shopping plugin for Amazon. Scrutiny used AI to detect false information on the internet. There were several other great ideas and all of these were produced in a singleweekend. Yes you read it right.
Big thanks to my teammates Jun (absolute beast), Katalina (incredibly smart), Ruslan (pure hustler) for the weekend. Also I want to thank the Junction event organizers. Definitely attending next year!
Oh yes, and what was my idea? Check it out here: https://devpost.com/software/noink
